My name is Gianna and I am a senior at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory. I plan to pursue human biology and anatomy in college, with the goal of becoming a pediatrician or pediatric surgeon in the future. Some of my hobbies include photography, traveling, and visiting aquariums. I’m so excited to start a new chapter of SaLI and to help others get involved in saving lives!
San Francisco, California: Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory High School Sports Medicine Club Seminar
This event focused on educating athletes and students interested in sports medicine about shin splints and stroke awareness. The presentation highlighted the causes, symptoms, treatment, and prevention strategies for shin splints/MTSS. Ambassadors also learned crucial steps to take while managing shin pain, including physical therapy exercises and cross-training methods. Stroke awareness was also addressed, with a focus on recognizing the signs of a stroke using the BE FAST acronym. Discussion activities allowed attendees to engage with the information, and bone models helped to visually explain the anatomy involved.
